Drunk Dream

J’ai plus de souvenirs
Que si j’avais mille ans
~ Baudelaire

I woke this morning
Having dreamed that
I lived
In his time
Which is to say
Any other time
Than mine
With an over
Flowing sense of
Continuity
Many days
Having run
Into one whole
Day of living
Having dreamed
Of love and death
Under life’s tree its
Flowing yellow sap
Its subterranean roots
Its impish seeds imbedded
Under my skin
And like the dirt
I loved her shell
Like the rain
I flooded her with joy
Like the sun
I kissed her
And she blushed
Rose red into green
            Green into red.
I woke this morning
Having dreamed
“J’ai plus de souvenirs
Que si j’avais mille ans”
Having dreamed
I too had more memories
Than if I had lived a thousand years.
